CM Mamata inaugurates Infosys's new campus in New Town, assures full government support

On Wednesday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee officially inaugurated the new Infosys campus in New Town, Hatisala, marking a major step in the state’s efforts to enhance its presence in the IT and technology sectors. The Infosys development center, spread across a vast area, is part of the company’s ongoing expansion in India. The new campus aims to cater to both global and domestic clients, with a focus on delivering high-end technology services and creating new business opportunities.

This new facility comes as part of Infosys' broader strategy to expand its footprint in West Bengal and contribute to the region’s growing IT landscape. The company, which started in 1981, has already established a significant presence in several cities across India. The New Town campus is expected to serve as a key location for the company's research, development, and digital transformation projects, making it an important part of Infosys’ long-term plans in the region.

At the inauguration, Mamata Banerjee emphasized the historical significance of the event, underlining that this new campus marks a milestone for both Infosys and the state. She assured the company that the state government would extend all necessary support, including infrastructure development, regulatory assistance, and security measures, to ensure smooth operations at the new campus.

The event also highlighted the cooperation between local political leaders and state authorities to ensure the success of such ventures. Mamata Banerjee mentioned Shaukat Mollah, the MLA from Canning East, directing local authorities to provide any necessary assistance to facilitate the campus' operations. She also stressed the need for coordination between Kolkata Police, Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, and West Bengal Police to ensure security and prevent any disruptions in the area.

Infosys’ New Town campus is poised to create a significant number of employment opportunities, both directly and indirectly. The campus will house professionals in software engineering, digital technology, and consulting roles. The new facility is expected to boost the state’s IT sector, attract further investments, and promote innovation in various fields, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud computing. With this development, West Bengal continues to solidify its role as a key player in India’s technology ecosystem.
